Yet more changes to the Immigration Rules!

Another set of changes to the Immigration Rules was announced yesterday - the third this year, and the first in the middle of lockdown.

Many of the changes are positive:

  • Family members of the people of Northern Ireland can now benefit from the EU Settlement scheme, which is more generous than the Immigration Rules for the partners of other British citizens and settled people
  • Protection against domestic abuse has been expanded from only spouses to cover all family members under the EU Settlement Scheme
  • A prison sentence of four years or more now carries a 10 year ban from the UK for the partner of a British citizen or settled person, whereas earlier it was for life

Changes have also been made to some work categories, but these are mainly clarifications.
